The basic vaccination is established by the vet but, as a rule, it's included also protection and/or the reduction of the clinical signs for the following diseases: Panleukopenia, Feline calcivirus, Chlamydioses, Feline Leukemia (FeLV), Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) and Rabies.

The health of the Norwegian Forest cats is the most important and while breeders we must be aware of all the studies and research that are made on the most inherited diseases, genetic and hereditary diseases that might affect the breed, and so I leave here a little about those diseases that affect more markedly the Norwegian Forest cats.
The most important are called GSD-IV, called Glycogen Storage Disease type IV and HCM called Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy.
Still under study in Norwegian Forest cats are: Polycystic Kidney Disease - PKD, Hip Dysplasia - HD and Patella luxation - PL. The two lat mainly affect heavy breeds of cats.
